Comparison
Lexis+ AI vs ClientSafeAI, for questions about your own documents
Is there a Lexis+ AI alternative just for document Q&A?
The short answer
Lexis+ AI was renamed Lexis+ with Protégé in February 2026. It’s a research, drafting and analysis platform built on LexisNexis case law, statutes and secondary sources, and it can also work over your uploaded documents. ClientSafeAI does only the second part, on a server dedicated to your firm, at a published price.
- Pick Lexis+ with Protégé if legal research is the core of the job and you want AI answers backed by LexisNexis’ own content, with document work alongside it.
- Pick ClientSafeAI if you already have your research tools and need a private place to question your own client documents, without a custom-quoted research subscription.

When Lexis+ AI (Lexis+ with Protégé) is the better choice
- Research is the job. Lexis has case law, statutes, regulations and secondary sources; we have none of it.
- You want drafting and research in the same place as your documents.
- Your firm already subscribes to Lexis+ and the document features are included.
- If a client questionnaire requires SOC 2 or ISO 27001 reports today, LexisNexis has them. We don’t yet.
